I have managed to get record shots of two colour ringed black-tailed godwits so far this summer. No details back from the first yet, but this one photographed at Frampton on 23rd July has an interesting travel/sighting record. It helped that this individual was particularly "scrappy" which brought attention to the colour rings. By convention, this bird's ring conformation is GW-OYflag, rings noted from top down, left leg then right. The "flag" indicates that the lower ring on the right leg has an extended tab.
This bird was ringed as chick in Iceland. Sightings reported so far are: -

Thanks to Dr Jennifer Gill at UEA for coordinating the reports and forwarding them to the relevant scheme coordinators, and to Böðvar Þórisson in Iceland who sent me the data so quickly. It's always nice to make some contribution, however small, to our knowledge of these birds.
